My Story

I wasn't always the woman writing this.

For most of my life, I was at war with my body. I was a basketball player as a kid. Then everything physical stopped, the weight came, and so did the comments. Crash diet after crash diet. Lose a little, gain back more. Somewhere along the way, "losing weight" stopped being a goal and became a phobia: something I wanted so badly but felt too ashamed to even start.

Maybe you know that feeling too.

What no one saw was the war happening inside. My cycles were a mess. I went months with no period and took pills to force my body to do what it wouldn't on its own. The cravings felt impossible. I'd hide to eat, because my body was asking for food, and yet the shape I was in had made me feel like eating was a crime.

I started buying only black clothes, only things that would hide me. I sat at my own birthday dinner trying to smile, quietly crying inside, certain that change was impossibly far away.

Then something shifted. In 2024, I stopped trying to punish my body and started trying to care for it. It wasn't a diet. It was real food, gentle movement, and finally treating myself like someone worth looking after. My cravings settled. My energy came back. My body started to feel like mine. A few months later, I found out I was pregnant, and I truly believe getting healthy is part of what helped me get there.

But my body wasn't done being tested. I'd already come through appendix surgery in 2022. Then, 13 days after giving birth to my daughter, I had my gallbladder removed. Two major surgeries. A newborn. A body completely depleted. The brain fog, the inflammation, the exhaustion, not recognizing myself: it was all back.

I went looking for help, something online for moms like me who were postpartum, post-surgery and trying to feel human again. I found nothing. No one gentle. No one who understood. No one who'd been here.

So I rebuilt myself anyway, and not alone. My husband stood beside me through all of it. My mom was there through the hardest days, helping with the baby, the house, and the moments I couldn't carry by myself. Having people in my corner showed me how much support matters, and how badly I wanted to be that for other women.

I've lost 30kg, not through punishment but through care. My body feels like mine again.

If you're reading this and feeling stuck, I want you to hear this: you're not lazy, you're not broken, and it's not too late. You just haven't had the right support yet.

That's what Reclaim HER Fitness is. It's the support I needed and couldn't find, now built for you. Wherever you are in your body's journey, you don't have to figure it out alone.
